Ground Chicken Sloppy Joes will hit the spot when craving a saucy, meaty dinner! They're unbelievably tasty and come together in just 30 minutes in a single pot!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 pound ground chicken
  • 1 large bell pepper - diced
  • 1 large carrot - peeled and diced
  • 1/2 large onion - diced
  • 2 teaspoons minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon dried onion flakes
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon yellow mustard powder
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 3/4 cup ketchup
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • Burger buns

Instructions

  1. Warm the olive oil in a large, non-stick skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add the ground chicken and cook until no pink remains.
  3. Move the chicken to the side of the skillet, and add the chopped onion, bell peppers, and carrots. Sauté until soft and fragrant, about 5 minutes.
  4. Stir the minced garlic, onion flakes, paprika, yellow mustard powder, salt, and pepper into the chicken and veggies. Mix until well combined.
  5. Add the ketchup, tomato sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and apple cider vinegar to the skillet and stir well.
  6. Reduce the heat to low, cover the skillet, and let the mixture simmer for about 5 minutes.
  7. Serve ground chicken sloppy joes over toasted brioche buns, and enjoy!

Notes

  • A large skillet with deep sides is best. I like to use my cast-iron Dutch oven or cast-iron casserole dish.
  • Serve Ground Chicken Sloppy Joes with crunchy sides for the best meal! Balance out the soft, saucy main dish with a crisp, crunchy-textured side.
  • If you're making the sauce ahead of time, store it separately from the buns to prevent the buns from becoming wet.
  • Let leftovers cool to room temperature, then transfer them to a glass, airtight container. Leftovers will stay fresh for up to 4 days.
